"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Matthew 25:31-40 nivWe need to get to work on our Operation Christmas Child boxes since they are due on Nov. 17th (at least at our church). We usually let each child have $10 to spend at the Dollar Tree and fill a box for a child of their choosing. The way my kids get so excited about this, you would think they were filling the boxes for themselves. I love it! Britt and Corban usually scheme about sharing "packs" of certain things like soap, combs, toothbrushes etc. (we require them to get at least 4 practical items) so they have more to spend on fun stuff like stuffed animals, toys and candy. Most importantly, after it is donated, each box is packed with a booklet explaining the saving grace of Jesus Christ in the child's own language. Without this, the gift is pointless. There are several ways to give through Samaritan's Purse. You could participate with Operation Christmas Child. Find out your drop off location and due date here or you can also just donate money online to help fill a box or help pay some of the shipping costs here. For other awesome ways to help share the Love of Christ and help with more earthly needs please check out the Samaritan's Purse Gift Catalog. You could feed a hungry baby for a week for only $9 (you can't look at those precious babies and not be moved) or free a child from abuse and bondage for $75. What grandparent wouldn't love to have this donated in their name (ahh...they probably don't need gifts anyway)? We are so blessed here in America and have so much to give. We think things are tight when we have to give up eating out each week or can't just go buy that new CD we want, but really.....we have it so good. Please give!!
